Color Me Crazy Hot Rods is a full service custom paint, body repair, and restoration shop specializing in hot rods and muscle cars. We take pride in the fact that we can offer show quality complete service from bumper to bumper. Jim Hardyman is the shop owner and head painter. Color Me Crazy Paint and Body Shop Supplies is a distributor of Transtar paint. It has never been sold in New Mexico before and we are the sole distributors in New Mexico. Transtar is a basecoat clearcoat system with a polyurethane base. You might have heard about Transtar before by using the clears and primers. However the basecoat has only been around for about four years. The great thing about Transtar it is Low VOC compliant, meaning that you don't have to use or switch to water base paint. Transtars line is comparable with PPG and Dupont, Glasurit. Although you will not have to spend as much when you buy Transtar. When spraying Transtar it is a lot thicker then most paints so the mixing ratio is 1:1 1/2 sometimes in the cold we have even sprayed 1:2. So the paint is more cost effective and you don't need to buy as much because it is so much thicker and it normally covers in 2 to 3 coats, some pearls need an extra coat.
